Nic and me visited Symi Island one day and both said we wish we’d had more time. It is simply stunning! The view as you pull in to port is hard to beat. The houses are multi coloured and like a picture postcard setting, as you can see :-

The Monastery of Taxiarhis Mihail Panormitis, southern Symi. We had to cover our legs and shoulders to be allowed inside, and unfortunately no photos were allowed.

The Island used to be one of the largest exporters of Sponge from the oceans. There were a lot of deaths back in the day due to the heavy equipment used and “the bends” which the divers contracted as there was little known medical knowledge about this at the time.
